Privacy Policy
How OrbitLink handles your data. Written in plain language for an indie product.
Last updated: August 7, 2026
Who we are
OrbitLink is a profile page builder for software engineers, operated as an indie product (no separate registered company). Contact: ping@orbitlink.bio.
What we collect
When you sign in with GitHub through Clerk, we receive identity information needed to create and secure your account (such as your Clerk user id and GitHub-linked profile details Clerk provides).
You may add profile fields we store in our database (Convex): username, display name, headline, bio, company, role, location, links, “now” status, publish state, and selected public GitHub projects (including metadata and preview images fetched from GitHub).
We do not run a custom avatar upload or blob storage in the current product. Avatars and project previews come from GitHub.
Why we collect it
We use this data to authenticate you, run your OrbitLink account, show your dashboard, and (when you publish) display your public profile at your OrbitLink URL. We also use limited technical data for reliability (see Error monitoring below).
Data retention
Profile and account data are kept until you delete your account. Hard delete removes your OrbitLink profile and related data from our database and frees your username for others. Error monitoring data in Sentry is retained according to our Sentry organization settings.
Your rights and deletion
You can delete your account in the dashboard under Settings. That permanently deletes your OrbitLink profile, projects, and linked auth account. Your public page will return the same not-found response as an unpublished or missing profile, and your username becomes available again.
If something goes wrong with in-app deletion, email ping@orbitlink.bio and we will help.
Children’s privacy
OrbitLink is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Error monitoring (Sentry)
We use Sentry to capture application errors so we can fix bugs. We configure Sentry with sendDefaultPii: false. Error events may include technical details such as URLs, browser information, and stack traces. We do not record session replays.
Third parties
Policy changes
We may update this policy as the product changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of OrbitLink after an update means you accept the revised policy.
